Do Not Worry About Tomorrow
I don’t know what the future may hold, but I know who holds the future. – Ralph Abernathy
There are so many worrying events happening all over the country. These days places you’ve always gone, perhaps somewhere you have always considered a safe place, can become filled with injury and death in the blink of an eye.
If we were not vigilant in the past, we are now! But even by being careful and “second guessing” possible problem areas, we are in the dark. However, that is exactly where God wants us to be.
Now you might be saying, “What? Donna, how could God possibly want us to be in the dark?”
Let me explain. God wants us to completely trust and depend on Him to provide us with peace and wisdom! He is our Provider, and we are to be His worshipers; our role is not to second guess Him or attempt to light our own our way through life’s journey. We have no clue and we cannot–and should not!–shoulder that burden.
In Matthew 6:25, Jesus says, “Therefore I tell you, don’t worry about your life.” God does not want us to worry about anything. The future is not ours to worry about, nor is our lives.
I know that while this may sound simple, it can be incredibly difficult to let go. Trusting in One we cannot see, even though we KNOW that He always has our best interests at heart, is hard! But the Bible tells us that trusting is the only way to find peace in the world in which we live. If we do not, we will always be anxious, worrying, or peering ahead at the future with trepidation.
Friends, as we enter into the New Year, let us encourage one another to NOT depend on self, but upon our loving Provider and Protector. It is only with Him at our sides that we can go out into the world, heads held high, enjoying all that life has to offer.
