His Love Endures Forever

Give thanks to the Lord for HE is GOOD; His faithful love endures forever. – Psalm 107:1

Today I watched four hummingbirds try to feed where there are only two feeding ports. It must be the colder weather that’s bringing them to my feeder; the food provides energy and warms them up. While they are chasing each other off, vying for the opportunity to eat, they’re actually wasting their precious energy fluttering about. They are probably anxious about how long that food will hold out. Isn’t that the way it is–survival of the fittest, the most persistent, the most obnoxious, the greediest?

Are we any different? We often have tunnel vision and are in pursuit of what or whom we think we “have to have,” no matter the cost. Are we gracious or kind when it looks like something we want is running low or will soon be unavailable? Do we try to hoard all we can for ourselves? Or do we trust that “more” will be available later, if we miss out now?

There’s such a difference between wants and needs! And what do we really need? My answer to that would be GOD! We need Him, like the air we breathe, like a new day dawning because He created it for us.  And here’s the good news: God is never-ending, He’ll never run out, and there is more than enough of Him to go around!

One thing I DO know for sure is that God is always good! Not sometimes, not when it’s just convenient, but always–even when we are “bad!” Just as Psalm 107:1 reminds us: God’s faithful love and goodness endures forever.

God loves us despite our humanness, our imperfections, the thoughtless and hurtful things we do to one another, and even when we keep Him at a distance. He is still here with us, waiting for us to return.

God is faithful! And HIS supply of goodness and faithfulness will never, ever run out!
